COS Director publishes paper linked to Mixed Methods Studies

COS Louise Newton, Mixed Methods Studies

In a paper recently published in the Journal of Patient Reported Outcomes, lead author and COS Director, Louise Newton (nee Humphrey), presents findings from a prospective study designed to compare traditional patient research methods (interviews) with innovative research methods (social media data review and Group Concept Mapping).

The study was conducted to address calls from regulators and sponsors around the need for more pragmatic and time and cost effective approaches in the PRO field. Alongside traditional methods, this study demonstrated that these novel approaches, and mixed methods, are able to provide robust and credible early insights into the patient experience that should be considered as part of the toolkit of methods for PRO researchers.
